On 25 and 26 October 2023, the fifth edition of the Green Hydrogen Summit Chile LAC was held in Santiago, an event that brought together more than a thousand people for conferences, business sessions, a trade fair and a demonstration of technologies related to this industry.
This event has been held since 2017 in Chile and has positioned itself as the most important open access event in the region for the new renewable hydrogen industry.
In different panels, fairs and business rounds, experts discuss the progress of green hydrogen, a key element in the fight against climate change and the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable economy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event was organised by the German cooperation agency GIZ, the Ministry of Energy and the Green Hydrogen Committee of Corfo, in the framework of the Team Europe Project for the Development of Renewable Hydrogen, co-financed by the German Federal Ministry of the Economy and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the European Union, the International Hydrogen Ramp-up Programme (H2Uppp) and the Chile-EU Bilateral Fund for Development in Transition, a joint initiative of the Chilean Agency for International Development Cooperation and the European Union.
The opening of the event, on Wednesday 25 October, was attended by the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow; the Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union in Chile, Quentin Weiler; the Executive Director of the Chilean Agency for International Development Cooperation (AGCID), Enrique O’Farrill; the Ambassador of Germany, Irmgard María Fellner and the Executive Vice President of Corfo, José Miguel Benavente.
The 13 panels that took place over the two days included the participation of representatives from different countries linked to the subject, such as Germany, Argentina, Brazil, the Netherlands and Uruguay, among others.
On both days, issues of vital importance to this industry were discussed, such as the production and storage of green hydrogen and its application in industry and transport, as well as the challenges that the region faces in this field for its development.
