With the objective of mobilizing national and international private investment toward cutting-edge projects in PtX derivatives (such as methanol, ammonia, and sustainable aviation fuels), the kick-off meeting of the Public-Private Roundtable for the Development of Financial Instruments for the RH2 & PtX Derivatives Industry in the Chilean Market was held today.
The meeting took place at the Delegation of the European Union to Chile, within the framework of the flagship program “Team Europe for the Development of Renewable Hydrogen in Chile,” an initiative co-financed by the EU and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and implemented by GIZ in close coordination with the Ministry of Energy of Chile.
Representing the EU Delegation, Francisco García, Head of Cooperation, highlighted the value of this strategic alliance and the impact of the Global Gateway initiative on the country’s energy transition. For his part, Chile’s Undersecretary of Energy, Hugo Briones, emphasized the urgency of aligning financing tools to bring the industry’s projects to fruition. Opening remarks were also shared by Carola Bruhn, Head of the Economic and Cooperation Section of the German Embassy, and Javier Ortiz, Director of the GIZ Southern Cone Energy Portfolio.
During the session, GIZ financial advisor Álvaro Castro, alongside the consulting team from NIRAS, presented the methodological approach and the work plan that will guide this Roundtable. The event concluded with a dynamic open debate between public and private stakeholders from the sector, thereby consolidating the first milestone of a key joint effort for regional decarbonization.
